Montefiascone is an important town in the upper Tuscia area of Viterbo, located just 4 km away from Lake Bolsena. The town centre is 600 metres above sea level and is the highest town centre in the province of Viterbo. Considered the "belvedere" of Tuscia, you can admire a magnificent panorama over a large part of Lake Bolsena.
The whole territory, rich in volcanic material, has proved to be very favourable for the development of vine cultivation over the centuries, becoming one of the major wine production centres of Lazio.
What to visit in Montefiascone:
The historic centre holds important evidence of its past.
Beginning with places of worship including the Church of San Flaviano with a striking Gothic facade.
The frescoes preserved inside the church are worth a look. You will also find both the throne of Pope Urban IV and the tomb of Johannes Defuk, the central character of the legend of EST! EST!! EST!!!.
An important symbol of the town is the Cathedral of Santa Margherita which shows itself in all its majesty to the visitor, thanks to its large dome. Another symbol of the town is the Rocca dei Papi; although it has been damaged over time, it still maintains its majesty and gives us an idea of its historical importance.

The biggest lake of volcanic origin in Europe and the fifth largest lake in Italy, it is located in upper Lazio, on the border with Umbria and Tuscany, in the main caldera of the Vulsino volcanic complex.
It has an elliptical shape and an area of 114.5 sq km, a perimeter of 43 km, a maximum depth of 151 metres and two islands, Martana and Bisentina.
By ferry, or by renting a boat, it is possible to navigate the lake and get to know every corner up close.

The Bisentina Island has been open to the public since July 2022.
Of volcanic origin, it has 7 churches and historical monuments, as well as a wild and untouched landscape.
To visit the island it is necessary to book a ticket online, which includes the ferry from Capodimonte or Bolsena and a guided tour of the island. It's a highly recommended experience.

Picturesque town overlooking the lake, developed on a peninsula in the south-western part of Lake Bolsena. Many people call Capodimonte the "pearl of the lake". It is popular with tourists in the summer but also lives on professional fishing and agricultural activity.
What to visit in Capodimonte:
The main street of the town extends for 6 km, forming a well-kept promenade full of restaurants and shops, excellent for a family stroll.
Also worth visiting is the Rocca Farnese di Capodimonte, an imposing octagonal fortress-palace, built in 1365 by the Duke of Castro, Pier Luigi Farnese.

Bolsena is the town that gives its name to the lake and is known both for its summer tourism and as "The city of the Eucharistic miracle".
The beautiful historic centre is divided into 3 districts, Castello di Santa Cristina, Borgo San Rocco, San Giovanni.
What to visit in Bolsena:
In addition to the wonderful lakefront, continuing towards the historic centre is the Fountain of San Rocco. Legend has it that San Rocco, passing through Bolsena, used this fountain to wash a wound in his leg, which healed instantly, and for this reason every 16th August there is a ceremony where the water from the fountain is blessed.
Continuing uphill, we find the Rocca Monaldeschi which houses the Territorial Museum of Lake Bolsena.
Also famous is the Cathedral of Santa Cristina, a sacred place rich in art and history, and where the Chapel of Santa Cristina is located, which leads to the Chapel of the Miracle which houses the marble of the altar on which the miraculous event took place.

Civita di Bagnoregio, called "the dying city" is the most spectacular town in Tuscia.
Listed among the most beautiful towns in Italy, it is a destination for over 700,000 tourists every year.
A unique beauty that defies time and the erosion of the volcanic soil on which it is located. It is surrounded by the Calanchi Valley, a wonderful spectacle born of wind and rain. Crossing the footbridge to the old town, visitors find themselves in a peaceful place, outside of time and the modern world. There are a number of places to eat and drink in the old town.

Orvieto is a city full of monuments and things to see.
Starting from Piazza Cahen you can immediately visit the ancient fortress, or Rocca Albornoz, which today houses the municipal gardens. Nearby, the remains of the Etruscan temple of Belvedere and the magical Pozzo di San Patrizio, an architectural structure unique in the world, with its two elliptical stairways that never meet as you go up and down the well, are worth seeing. The symbol of the city itself is the Cathedral, whose construction began in 1290. It looks majestic with its facade decorated with shining gold mosaics and precious bas-reliefs. The four refined spires make it one of the most beautiful cathedral facades in the world.
In addition to its monuments, Orvieto is rich in a food and wine tradition that is present in the many taverns in the historic centre.
